I tried to turn over, the heat on my back becoming unbearable. I felt rubbed raw, everything ached, my head was pounding and I could taste bile in the back of my throat. With a groan, I opened my eyes and watched the ceiling tiles drift past me.

The ceiling was moving.

The whole world was spinning but the ceiling specifically, was odd.

Something tugged on my legs and I let out a scream as the memories came flooding back.

I was being dragged through my apartment, I thrashed weakly, my body protesting the movement.

The creature hauling me along it its wake turned one ugly face to me, snarled and turned away again, opening my door with a bang before dragging me painfully over the threshold and into the cheaply carpeted corridor.

I screamed for help, twisted my ankles in its grip and tried to sit up and claw at the monstrous hand that encircled my calf. No one came to my aid; its grip didn’t loosen and all I managed was to tire myself out further.

Even if I could have escaped, my choices were to run back into my apartment or try and get past the monster who took up the entire width of the hallway.

I sank back, defeated for now, and tried to calm myself enough that I could form a plan for when we exited the building. The carpet rubbed at my spine, the burning sensation a different type of fiery agony in comparison to my -more than likely- broken ribs.

To my immense surprise, it gathered me up in its arms and slung me over its shoulder like a sack. My hips dangled near its face, my chest hanging, face down, on its back. The beasts thick shoulder dug into my torso and I felt something inside me snap under the weight and I gagged at the sensation.

The pain in my ribs was too much and I screamed as tears began to leak through my lashes.

Something about the sound must have offended the giant git, because he huffed and rearranged me until the majority of my upper body hung limply over the shoulder, one heavy arm banded around my thighs as an anchor, my dress barely covering my ass. The pain in my torso receded enough that I managed a few shallow breaths, and even that sent agony sparking through my battered body.

I hovered on the edge of consciousness; my breathing too shallow but the pain too much to do anything about it.

My eyes began to drift closed again.

The urge to fight had all but left me, the fear of whatever was to come, outweighed by sheer exhaustion. With a crash, we left the building. I forced my eyes open again and twisted my head a little,
